Diese beiden Tage widmete ich ganz dem Entspannen... das war nicht weiter schwierig hier im Marriott Red Sea! : ) Ich genoss das Frühstück auf der Terrasse  ausgiebig  bis 11 Uhr, wo ich  jeden Morgen  etwas Neues ausprobierte, bis ich mich so bis Ende Woche durchs ganze Buffet gegessen habe...

 

These two days I devoted to relaxing... that was not difficult at all here at the Marriott Red Sea! : ) I enjoyed a hearty breakfast on the terrace  until 11 am where I  tried out something new  every morning  until I have eaten myself through the whole buffet by the end of the week…

Nach einem bewölkten Tag herrschte wieder eitler Sonnenschein bei Temperaturen um 28 Grad, was zum Verweilen am Strand einlud. Natürlich ging ich auch jeden Tag schwimmen mit der Hoffnung dass das klare und warme (26 Grad) Salzwasser meiner Haut hilft zu kurieren...

After an overcast day it was again vain sunshine at temperatures around 28 degrees, which invited to linger on the beach. Of course, I also went swimming every day with the hope that the clear and warm (26 degrees) salt water will help to cure my skin…

Am Mittwoch Abend machte ich mich auf und spazierte in die Stadt Hurghada. Eine grosse beleuchtete Promenade führt der Küste entlang ins Zentrum, das man nach 20 Minuten zu Fuss bequem und sicher erreicht. Unterwegs machte ich ein Sprachspiel mit fast jedem, den ich traf oder der mich ansprach: Die Araber sind Meister der Metapher, so haben sie viele verschiedene Weisen guten Morgen oder guten Abend zu sagen... wenn ich also zum Beispiel 'sabah al kheir' sage, dann krieg ich als Beispiel zur Antwort 'sabah al nur' und so geht es weiter, bis wir alle schönen Dinge aufgezählt haben, die uns in den Sinn kommen - die Araber lieben dies, auch wenn man sich bemüht ihre Sprache zu sprechen!  Arabisch ist eindeutig die schwächste meiner 7 Sprachen, aber ich übe was ich kann! Die Ägypter hingegen sind echte Sprachgenies: Viele haben Sprachen an der Uni studiert und die andern lernen es von den Touristen. Die Wenigsten haben die Gelegenheit ins Ausland zu reisen und profitieren clever von ihrer fast unendlicher Präsenzzeit im Geschäft - sie sprechen mit den Touristen nicht nur um etwas zu verkaufen, sondern auch um auszutauschen, die Zeit tot zu schlagen und Sprachen zu lernen! : ))

 

On Wednesday evening I walked to the centre of Hurghada. A large illuminated promenade leads along the coast to the centre, which can be reached comfortably and safely on foot in 20 minutes. On the way I made a language game with almost everyone I met or spoke to me: The Arabs are masters of the metaphor, so they have many different ways to say good morning or good evening... for example, if I say 'sabah al kheir', they answer for example 'sabah al nur' and so on until we have enumerated all the beautiful things that come to mind - the Arabs love this, also if somebody tries to speak their language! Arabic is clearly the weakest of my 7 languages, but I practice what I can! The Egyptians, on the other hand, are real language geniuses: Many have studied languages ​​at university and others learn it from the tourists. Few have the opportunity to travel abroad and benefit cleverly from their almost infinite presence in their shops - they talk to the tourists not only to sell something, but also to exchange, kill time and learn languages! : ))

Am Donnerstag marschierte ich in die andere Richtung (meine Joggingstrecke) und kam auch hier mit meinem kleinen Sprachspiel zu  vielen interessanten Gespräche. So kam mir  immer wieder zu Ohren, wie die Inflation seit der neuen Regierung die Preise für Alltägliches in schwindelerregende Höhe treibt und die Menschen beängstigt... jeder hofft, dass alles besser wird... Ich versuche dann die Menschen zu animieren nicht zu warten, sondern selber beginnen im Kleinen zu wirken und Gutes zu tun... wo es gepflegt, sauber und sicher ist, kommt jeder gerne hin und wird inspiriert!

On Thursday I marched in the other direction (my jogging track) and came into many interesting conversations with my little language game too. So I kept hearing about how inflation has driven the prices of everyday life to dizzying heights and that people are frightened since the new government is on duty... everyone hopes that everything will get better... I then try to encourage people not to wait but start to work on a small scale and do good things... where it is neat, clean and safe, everyone likes to come and can be inspired!

Mein treuer Freud und Privatchauffeur Mohammed stand in kürzester Zeit bereit, wo ich auch war. Wenn er nicht schon gegessen hatte lud ich ihn ein, wir besprachen ein paar Reisepläne und er brachte mich stets sicher zurück ins Marriott.

My faithful friend and private chauffeur Mohammed was ready in no time, wherever I was. If he had not already eaten, I invited him, we discussed some travel plans and he always brought me back to the Marriott safe and sound.

Heute Morgen war ich kurz nach 8 Uhr beim Frühstück... es war bewölkt und auch ich fühlte mich so! Ich hatte sehr schlecht geschlafen nach der Hackergeschichte und es war mir überhaupt nicht wohl! Ob es an meiner neuen Kur lag? - Seit einem Jahr leide ich unter akuten Hautproblemen und unsere Dermatologen lösten dies mit teuren Salben, die zwar im Moment helfen aber weitere Ausbrüche nicht verhindern... ich komme mir vor  wie unser Planet, der von uns Menschen ausgebeutet und ausgehöhlt wird! : (  So ging ich an meinem ersten Morgen hier auf eine  Einkaufstour um Wasser und Naturprodukte für meine Haut zu suchen. Ich stiess auf Schwarzkümmelöl, das ich innerlich (2 x 1 Teelöffel auf nüchternen Magen) und äusserlich anwende. Und ich denke es wirkt, denn es spült meinen ganzen Körper durch!

 

This morning I was at breakfast just after 8 am... it was overcast and that's exactly how I felt this morning too! I had a very bad night after the hacker story and didn't feel well all all! Was it because of my new cure? - For a year now I am suffering from acute skin problems and our dermatologists solved this with expensive ointments, which help at the moment but do not prevent further outbreaks... I feel like our planet, which is exploited and eroded by us humans! : ( On my first morning here I went on a shopping spree to look for water and natural products for my skin... I came across black seeds (cumin) oil which I use internally (2 x 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach) and externally. And I think it works, because it flushes my whole body!

Essen konnte ich nichts, aber ich genoss einen Tee, etwas sudanischer Kaffee und Orangensaft. Viel Zeit hatte ich eh nicht, denn ich hatte heute eine Schnorcheltour gebucht und fand mich kurz vor 9 Uhr auf dem Hotelsteg ein, wo ich auf dem Taucherboot  Princess Nada des Aquarius Diving Club Marriott an Bord ging. Dort traf ich auf eine bunt gemischte Gesellschaft - genau so wie im Marriott, das vor internationalen Gästen (auch viele Ägypter) strotzt, was ich sehr schätze. So hatte ich mit vielen interessanten Leuten ebensolche Gespräche.

 

I could not eat anything but enjoyed a tea, some Sudanese coffee and orange juice. I did not have much time anyway as I had booked a snorkelling tour today and appeared just before 9 am on the hotel dock, where I boarded the diving boat Princess Nada of the Aquarius Diving Club Marriott. There I met a motley society - just like at the Marriott, which brims with international guests (also many Egyptians), what I really appreciate. So I had many interesting talks with just the same people.

Mit etwas Verspätung liefen wir aus aufs Rote Meer und eine Stunde später erreichten wir das Riff Gota Abu Ramada. Bis alle Taucher abgetaucht waren rang ich mit mir, denn es war mir eigentlich zu kühl... aber schlussendlich lohnte es sich, denn nicht nur das Wasser war wärmer als die Luft, sondern die farbig und intakt Korallenriffe im Roten Meer verblüffen immer wieder! Ich bin ja wirklich viel bereist, aber nichts kann das Schnorcheln im Roten Meer toppen! Als Grund dafür nennen die Ägypter, dass das Meer nicht überfischt wird...

 

With some delay we set out to the Red Sea and an hour later we reached the reef Gota Abu Ramada. Until all the divers had jumped into the ocean, I struggled with myself because it was actually too cold for me... but finally it was worth it: Not only the water was warmer than the air, but also the colourful and intact coral reefs in the Red Sea amazed like every time again! I've traveled a lot, but nothing beats snorkelling in the Red Sea! The reason for this is that the ocean is not overfished, as Egyptians say…

Zurück im Hotel wollte ich erst mal mein e-mail Problem an meinem iPhone klären und kontaktierte den Herr der iPhones, Martin Mehr aus Sursee. Und der weiss wirklich alles: Das WLAN des Hotels konnte die Daten nicht hin und her schicken und als ich meine Mobilen Daten kurz einschaltete lief es wie am Schnürchen! - Wieder ein Problem weniger, das ich mit einem Sauna- und Dampfbadgang feierte. Danach noch ein aufbauendes Telefongespräch mit meiner Tochter Melanie und meine kleine Welt war wieder in Ordnung! : ) 

Back at the hotel I first wanted to solve my e-mail problem on my iPhone and contacted the Lord of the iPhones, Martin Mehr from Sursee. And he really knows everything: The WLAN of the hotel could not send the data back and forth and when I switched on my mobile data it ran like clockwork! - Minus one problem, which I celebrated with a visit at the sauna and steam bath. Thereafter a nice telephone conversation with my daughter Melanie and my little world was fine again! : )

Zum Abendessen ging ich ziemlich spät ins Hotelrestaurant Tuscany, bestellte eine Flasche Wein (mehr als die Hälfte nahm ich mit ins Zimmer) und Wolfsbarschfilet mit Gemüse und Kartoffelschnitzen - genial lecker!

 

For dinner I went quite late to the hotel restaurant Tuscany, ordered a bottle of wine (more than half I took into the room) and sea bass fillet with vegetables and potato wedges - awesome delicious!

Bevor ich dann endgültig in mein Zimmer fand machte ich einen Abstecher in die Hotelbar, wo heute Abend Orientalischer Tanz mit einer äusserst sympathischer Tänzerin statt fand - natürlich landete ich wie immer auch auf der Bühne...

Before I finally found my room, I made a detour to the hotel bar, where there was an Oriental Dance show with an utmost lovely dancer taking place this evening - of course I was invited on stage like always…
