Plötzlich
weckte uns jemand, der Zug stand bereits eine Weile still, und sagte, dass wir
in Luxor angekommen waren. Es war kurz vor 11 Uhr und wir wurden von Mutas,
Zizu genannt, auf dem Perron empfangen. Wir holten Kaffee und Sandwiches für
unterwegs und wurden mit dem Minibus über den Nil nach Westbank gefahren.
Ghada, meine super Führerin am letzten Tag meines Ausfluges in Qena, erklärte
mir, dass alle Monumente, die westlich des Nils liegen, den Tod symbolisieren,
deswegen sind hier auch die Grabstätten und -tempel zu finden.
Suddenly somebody woke us up, the train was already standing still for a while, and said that we had arrived in Luxor. It was just before 11 am and we were welcomed on the platform by Mutas, called Zizu. On the way, we bought coffee and sandwiches and were driven by minibus over the Nile to Westbank. Ghada, my super guide on the last day of my trip in Qena, explained to me that all the monuments situated on the west side of the Nile symbolize death, that's why tombs and funerary temples are located here.

Unser
erster Besuch galt dem Hatschepsut Tempel: Hatschepsut
regierte Ägypten als Mann verkleidet friedlich während 22 Jahren als
einzige Frau in 7000 Jahren - das ist jedenfalls was man bis jetzt weiss! ; )
Hier war ich das letzte Mal vor ca. 20 Jahren kurz nach dem Terroranschlag
1997. Zizu erwies sich als angenehmer und humorvoller Führer, wir waren alle
drei sichtlich erleichtert! Uns nervten nur noch die aufdringlichen
Verkäufer, die ich einfach ignorierte und so tat als ob sie nicht mich
meinten...
Our first visit was the Hatshepsut Temple: Hatshepsut ruled Egypt disguised as a man peacefully for 22 years as the only woman in 7000 years - that is at least what we know so far! ; ) I was here last time about 20 years ago, shortly after the terror attack in 1997. Zizu proved to be such a pleasant and humorous guide; all three of us were visibly relieved! Only intrusive salespeople annoyed us, who I simply ignored and pretended they did not mean me...

Nach der
Besichtigung einer Alabasterfabrik ging es ins Tal der Königinnen, wo auch
Hatschepsuts Mumie gefunden wurde. Die Mumien wurden bis 200 m tief begraben.
Den Arbeitern wurden die Augen verbunden, wenn sie in das Grabtal zum Arbeiten
gebracht wurden, damit sie nicht wussten, wo all die Schätze zu finden sind...
After a visit of an alabaster factory we continued to the Valley of the Queens, where also Hatshepsut's mummy was found. The mummies were buried up to 200 m deep. The workers were blindfolded taken to work at the tombs, in order not to know where to find all the treasures…

Dann
hiess es Abschiednehmen, denn ich wurde im Hotel Gaddis in Luxor abgeladen
und Nikki und Alvaro fuhren mit dem Bus zurück nach Hurghada und morgen nach
Hause nach Hamburg... : ( Aber wir werden uns ganz sicher wiedersehen! : )
Then it was time to say goodbye, because I was dropped off at the Hotel Gaddis in Luxor and Nikki and Alvaro went by bus back to Hurghada and tomorrow home to Hamburg ... : ( But we definitely will see each other again! : )
