Diese
beiden Tage genoss ich im grossartigen Marriott Red Sea und in der Stadt
Hurghada. Das Hotel liegt ideal, so dass ich morgens auf der riesigen Esplanada
joggen ging, mein Frühstück bis 11 Uhr auf der herrlichen Terrasse genoss, mich
zum Verdauen und Sonnen (bei angenehmen Temperaturen um 25 Grad) an den Strand
legte, im klaren und immer noch 24 Grad warmen Wasser schwimmen ging und mich
abends im Dampfbad und der Sauna aufwärmte... Am Abend wird es deutlich kühler
(um 15 Grad), so dass man lange Hosen und eine Jacke benötigt...
These two days I enjoyed at the fantastic Marriott Red Sea and in town of Hurghada. The hotel is ideally located, so in the mornings I went for a run on the huge esplanade, enjoyed my breakfast on the splendid terrace until 11 am, took a deckchair on the beach to digest and sun tan (at pleasant temperatures around 25 centigrade), I went swimming in the clear and still 24 degree warm water and warmed up in the steam bath and sauna in the evenings... At night it is much cooler (around 15 degrees), thus you need long trousers and a jacket…

Vom
Marriott Red Sea erreicht man auf einem gemütlichen Spaziergang der Küste
entlang in 20 Minuten das Zentrum von Hurghada. Zurück fuhr ich jeweils mit dem
Taxi, da Mohammed noch in Qena bei seiner Familie ist, fand ich Ahab, einen
jungen Taxifahrer, der mir seine Dienste zu ägyptischen Preisen anbot! : )
Leider spricht er überhaupt kein Englisch, so dass er wie viele andere Ägypter
sich einer Übersetzung im Internet bediente. Die lässt aber sehr zu wünschen
übrig und stiftet mehr Verwirrung als Klärung... Ob es wohl bereits ein App
gibt, wo man den Text übersetzen und hören kann? - Das wäre doch ideal um eine
Sprache zu lernen!?
Die
Araber sind sonst eigentlich Meister in Sprachen, aber heutzutage verbringen
die Jungen ihre Zeit am Handy anstatt im richtigen Leben... Ja, die Araber -
egal ob Mann oder Frau, sie sind mein Lieblingsvolk! Wenn man offen ist,
gewinnt man schnell ihr warmes Herz, das einem für immer auf sicher ist! Meine
erste Bekanntschaft mit Arabern machte ich vor 35 Jahren in meinem ersten Job
als Receptionistin im Hotel Alpenblick in Weggis... Damals begann die
Informatik zu boomen und es nisteten sich einige saudiarabische Familien
in den Apartments des Hotels ein und ich kam natürlich schnell mit ihnen in
Kontakt. Nie werde ich die Unterhaltung mit einer jungen verhüllten Frau
vergessen, die ich fragte, ob sie keine Lust hätte sich westlich zu
bekleiden... die junge Frau, die übrigens perfekt Englisch sprach und dies in
den USA studierte, gab mir zur Antwort: Nein, lieber nicht, denn ich möchte die
gierigen Blicke der Männer nicht auf meinem Körper spüren! Sie hob ihre Galabea
und darunter kam eine Traumfigur in Levis 501 zum Vorschein! Und mir wurde erst
bewusst, wie töricht wir westlichen Frauen uns benehmen halb nackt
herumzustolzieren...
Ich
verbrachte damals am liebsten meine Zeit mit den herzlichen Saudis, sei das
privat bei ihnen, bei mir oder auf Ausflügen. Diese Bekanntschaften beflügelten
mich noch mehr meine 1. Studienreise nach Ägypten mit meiner Freundin Susle
anzutreten und so wuchs die Sympathie immer mehr. Ich habe seither viele
arabische Länder besucht: Wie in Ägypten war ich ebenfalls 12 mal in
Marokko (davon 2 x 4 Monate), daneben bereiste ich Oman, Jordanien,
Libanon, Dubai, Tunesien und die Türkei. Meine bestes Erlebnis aber - immer und
immer wieder - ist mein allerliebster langjähriger Freund, Beduine und Scheich
Marey! : ))
From the Marriott Red Sea you reach the centre of Hurghada on a comfortable 20-minutes walk along the coast. Back I drove by taxi, since Mohammed is still in Qena with his family, I found Ahab, a young taxi driver, who offered me his services at Egyptian prices! Unfortunately, he does not speak any English at all, so that he, like many other Egyptians, used a translation on the internet. But that leaves a lot to be desired and causes more confusion than clarification... I wonder whether there exists already an app, where you can translate and hear the text? - That would be ideal to learn a language!?
Arabs are masters of languages, but nowadays the youngsters spend their time on the cell phone instead in real life... Yes, the Arabs - man or woman, they definitely are my favourite people! If you're open you quickly win their warm heart that for lifetime! My first acquaintance with Arabs was 35 years ago in my first job as a receptionist at the Hotel Alpenblick in Weggis... At that time computer science started to boom and some Saudi Arabian families nestled in the apartments of the hotel and of course I came quickly in contact with them. Never will I forget the conversation with a young, veiled woman, whom I asked if she would not like to dress in western style... the young woman, who by the way spoke perfectly English which she had studied in the US, answered: No, I prefer not, because I do not want to feel the greedy looks of men on my body! She raised her galabea and under it a dream figure appeared in Levis 501 jeans! And I became aware of how foolish we western women behave to walk around half naked…
At that time I preferred to spend my time with the affectionate Saudis, be it privately at their place, at my place or on excursions. These acquaintances spurred me even more to set forth on my first study trip to Egypt with my girlfriend Susle and that's how sympathy grew more and more. I have visited many Arab countries since then: Like in Egypt I was in Morocco 12 times (twice for 4 months), I also travelled to Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Dubai, Tunisia and Turkey. However, my best experience remains - over and over again - with my dearest long-time friend, Bedouin and Sheikh Marey! : ))

Am
Donnerstag Abend traf ich den sympathischen und hilfsbereiten Emad, der mich in
die Marina begleitete, wo ich nochmals im genialen (Service, Lokal und Preise!)
Chill & Grill zu Abend ass: diesmal ein leckeres Kamelsteak! Emad ist unter
anderem Kameramann und konnte mir wertvolle Tips geben, wie meine Fotos in der
Nacht gelingen...

On Thursday evening I met
the lovely and helpful Emad, who accompanied me to the marina, where I had
dinner again in the brilliant (service, restaurant and prices!) Chill &
Grill: this time a delicious camel steak! Among other jobs, Emad is a cameraman
and therefore was able to give me valuable hints on how my photos succeed at
night…
